Description Pavel Petrovich Postyshev (6 [18] September 1887, Ivanovo-Voznesensk, Vladimir Province, Russian Empire – February 26, 1939, Butyrskaya Prison, Moscow, RSFSR, USSR) – Soviet state and party leader, party propagandist and journalist, one of the organizers and then the victims of Stalinist repression. After the death of Stalin rehabilitated. The initiator of the creation of the secular holiday “New Year” instead of the Christmas holiday in 1935.
