Being part of the Caucasian Riviera, it is one of the very few places in Russia with a subtropical climate, with warm to hot summers and mild winters.

Adler is a beachside area known for Olympic Park, the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. Within the park, the Singing Fountains offer a nightly water-jet show set to classical music, and Olympic Stadium Fisht hosts national soccer matches. Adjacent Sochi Park features dolphin shows and high-speed roller coasters. Colorful stalls at the Central Adler Market sell local sweets, spices, preserves, and smoked fish.
